“Harry Potter” TV Series Finds Its Kid Trio

Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series has cast its core trio of kids with the studio announcing the winners of the roles in a press release.

Newcomers Dominic McLaughlin will star as Harry Potter in the series, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley.



The trio take on the roles made famous previously on screen by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint respectively over the course of the eight films.

The trio were found after an extensive search for to fill those roles with showrunner Francesa Gardiner and director/executive producer Mark Mylod saying in a statement:

“The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”

The project has been described as a “decade-long” one with each season expected to adapt one book in Rowling’s acclaimed book series.

The three actors are the first kid roles in the show to be cast, they will be joined by adults like John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
